First Victoria Park 10k![]() There was an entry of almost 3000 for the first Victoria Park 10K. It was sunny for the race around the flat parkland course. The race was organised by Rose Dawood. ![]() This lady had the best and most colourfull costume of the day. Photo with a large of group of her friends. ![]() ![]() Two 2009 Race for Life winners ran the race. Left is City of London winner, Jennifer Jenks, who finished sixth. Jennifer had completed a marathon the previous weekend. It was warm and sunny for the undulating 2 lap 10k course. The race was organised by Vicky Calliari. Right a photo before the start. ![]() ![]() Left the 1200 start the race. Many more turned up to support the runners raising money for Cancer Research UK. ![]() After running the Challenging multi-terain course it was time to relax. ![]() A team from show Oliver ran the race. Two of them volunteered to lead the warm up after the official warmup instructors were delayed. ![]() Many finished with friends. Some Hand in Hand. ![]() The race was organised by Vicky Calliari. Vicky pictured right with some of the large group of volunteers who supported the event. ![]() The race started and finished at the National Athletics Stadium. The course was in the surrounding park. The route included parts of old Motor racing circuit, the terraces of the old Crystal Palace, the ski slope, the flower gardens and the lake paths. At 8k the runners passed the Dinosaur park. This was 100 more than the 2009 Glasgow race, making this the biggest Race for Life ever. The race was organised by Becky Lomax supported by Cancer Research UK staff and a large team of volunteers. If you were at Kempton Park please take part in the www.runwalklondon.com 2009 EVENTS SURVEY (05Jul09) First 10k Blackheath Race for Life![]() A new distance was offered for this years Blackheath Cancer Research UK Race for Life. 10,000 did the 5k and 3,000 decided to try the new 10k making this the biggest ever Blackheath. Actress Phina Oruche ran the 5k. It was a warm day, cloudy at times but mostly sunny. This year race was organised by Rose Dawood assisted by other Cancer Researck UK staff and a large group of volunteers. ![]() ![]() Photos left, right and below were taken before the start. This years race was organised bt Vicki Calliari. It was a hot sunny day. Below the runners on the main straight away from the start. ![]() If you were at Richmond please take part in the www.runwalklondon.com 2009 EVENTS SURVEY (28Jun09) Phoebe First at Enfield![]() As usual the sun came out for the Enfield Cancer Research UK Race for Life. 4500 women turned up to run, jog and walk the 5K course in Trent Park. The race was organised by Rose Dawood. After coming second in 2007 and 2008 Holby actress Phoebe Thomas came first. Her time was 21 minutes. Her next Race for Life is at Hyde Park in July where she is hoping to break 20 minutes. ![]() ![]() The Tutus are getting more colourful. Romary Conley provided the warn-up instructor. There were a large group from Rosemary Conley. Right are a few of them. ![]() ![]() There were a lot of pink tutus. These three went better with pink hair and pink halos. On such a hot day running as a turtle can't have been easy. ![]() ![]() Many completed the course in costume. This was the only spanner! All ages were at Enfield. With 1.5K to go, these three posed for a photo at the Obelisk. ![]() Amongst the volunteers were Trent Park Runners. As usual they provided the course marshals and lead bike. This was double the previous best. The race was organised bt Vicky Calliari. The 5k course started and finished in the National Athletics Stadium. Cancer Research UK Staff and volunteers had to contend with heavy, rain, thunder and lightening while setting up, but the skies cleared as the participants arrived. The race was organised by Rose Dawood. Basketball's Pops spoke to the crowds and started the race. The race was organised by Vicki Calliari. (Photo right) John Sergeant's 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner Kristina Rihanoff appeared on stage to speak to the crowd and teach them a few dance moves. This year she was given a special number marking her 15th Battersea Race for Life. Vicki takes over from Joff Charters and will be responsible for the Race for Life events at Regents Park, Hampstead, Crystal Palace and Richmond. Interviews for his replacement will be taking place in the coming weeks.(25 Jan 09) London Cancer Research UK Events 2009Race for Life, Run for Moore and 10K events. Becky Lomax heads the London region. The race organisers are Joff Charters, Rosannah Dawood and Jemma Molloy. New for 2009 is a Race for Life event at Hyde Park.
