First Victoria Park 10k
There was an entry of almost 3000 for the first Victoria Park 10K. It was sunny for the race around the flat parkland course. The race was organised by Rose Dawood. 
This lady had the best and most colourfull costume of the day. Photo with a large of group of her friends. 
Two 2009 Race for Life winners ran the race. Left is City of London winner, Jennifer Jenks, who finished sixth. Jennifer had completed a marathon the previous weekend. Right pictured with Rosmary Conley warmup instructor, Lindsey Peters is Enfield Race for Life winner, Holby actress Phoebe Thomas, who finished second in a personal best of 39:20.

1200 came to run the Finsbury Park Cancer Research UK 10k. It was warm and sunny for the undulating 2 lap 10k course. The race was organised by Vicky Calliari. Right a photo before the start. 
Left the 1200 start the race. Right there was friendly competition between the participants on the run in to the finish. 
Everyone was happy to finish. Left some on the leading runners pass the motivation boards it the last kilometre of the lap. Below passing the 4K marker.

1000 turned up to run in the first Crystal Palace Cancer Research UK 10k. Many more turned up to support the runners raising money for Cancer Research UK. 
After running the Challenging multi-terain course it was time to relax. 
A team from show Oliver ran the race. Two of them volunteered to lead the warm up after the official warmup instructors were delayed. 
Many finished with friends. Some Hand in Hand. 
The race was organised by Vicky Calliari. Vicky pictured right with some of the large group of volunteers who supported the event. 
The race started and finished at the National Athletics Stadium. The course was in the surrounding park. The route included parts of old Motor racing circuit, the terraces of the old Crystal Palace, the ski slope, the flower gardens and the lake paths. At 8k the runners passed the Dinosaur park. Over 17,000 turned up to run, jog and walk the Hyde Park Cancer Reseach UK Race for Life. This was 100 more than the 2009 Glasgow race, making this the biggest Race for Life ever. The race was organised by Becky Lomax supported by Cancer Research UK staff and a large team of volunteers. Below a couple of photos before the race. 
Liz McClarnon (Atomic Kitten and celebrity cook) and Rebekah Gibbs (Former Casualty actress) were interview on stage. Race for Life Patron Gloria Hunniford spoke to the crowd before the warm-up.

Jennifer Jenks, City of London Winner, again ran in her nuns costume, finishing in the top ten. Right the best cosumes of the day, Elephant and Monkey.

4000 ran, jogged and walked the Kempton Park Cancer Research UK Race for Life. It was a warm sunny day. The race was organised by Jemma Molloy. 
These two together hand in hand. 
These ladys (Right) were the most colourful participants of the day. Left a pleasant jog round the lake just before the 4k marker.

A new distance was offered for this years Blackheath Cancer Research UK Race for Life. 10,000 did the 5k and 3,000 decided to try the new 10k making this the biggest ever Blackheath. Actress Phina Oruche ran the 5k. It was a warm day, cloudy at times but mostly sunny. This year race was organised by Rose Dawood assisted by other Cancer Researck UK staff and a large group of volunteers.

Pictured right is the winner of the first Blackheath Cancer Research UK Race for Life 10k. All ages were there to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The race should raise over £1,000,000. Below a photo of the 13,000 before the start. 
In the afternoon it was the mens turn with the Run for Moore. Spephanie Moore spoke to the 1500 men before the warm-up.

6000 participated in the two Cancer Research UK Race for Life events at Old Deer Park, Richmond. This years race was organised bt Vicki Calliari. It was a hot sunny day. Pictured right are a few late starters in the morning race. 
Weathergirl Becky spoke on stage and started the morning race. Right these Pink Ladies are happy to have finished. These Morris Dancers (below) danced their way around the morning race. 
The cast of 'Wicked' (Above) started and ran the afternoon race. The flat course was ideal for wheelchairs. Below the runners on the main straight away from the start.

As usual the sun came out for the Enfield Cancer Research UK Race for Life. 4500 women turned up to run, jog and walk the 5K course in Trent Park. The race was organised by Rose Dawood. After coming second in 2007 and 2008 Holby actress Phoebe Thomas came first. Her time was 21 minutes. Her next Race for Life is at Hyde Park in July where she is hoping to break 20 minutes. 
The Tutus are getting more colourful. Romary Conley provided the warn-up instructor. There were a large group from Rosemary Conley. Right are a few of them. 
There were a lot of pink tutus. These three went better with pink hair and pink halos. On such a hot day running as a turtle can't have been easy. 
Many completed the course in costume. This was the only spanner! All ages were at Enfield. With 1.5K to go, these three posed for a photo at the Obelisk. 
Amongst the volunteers were Trent Park Runners. As usual they provided the course marshals and lead bike. Below is a photo of the participants enjoying the Nivea cheerleader's performance.

4000 ran, jogged and walked the Crystal Palace Cancer Research UK Race for Life. This was double the previous best. The race was organised bt Vicky Calliari. The 5k course started and finished in the National Athletics Stadium. The course was in the surrounding Crystal Palace park. A couple of photos taken before the race. Left overdressed for the warm day in Fairy Tale costumes and right a team in Pink Tutus. 
There were many in costume. Right are a team of Bunny Girls. Left some impressive Ears. 
Some decided to make the 5k more challenging by going three legged. A team of nuns skipping Sunday service. 
Many finished hand in hand with friends. All ages came to raise money for Cancer Research. 
Rosie and Pippa completed the course on Spacehoppers. Below the 4000 warming up before the start.

The Hampstead Cancer Research UK Race for Life was held on Hampstead Heath. Cancer Research UK Staff and volunteers had to contend with heavy, rain, thunder and lightening while setting up, but the skies cleared as the participants arrived. The race was organised by Vicki Calliari. Left Bunnies walking the course. There were a lot of smiles on completing the 5k course (Right). 
There were many in costume. Two Sumo's left. Of all the cowgirls these two had the most impressive hats.

6000 arrived at the new start and finish area on London Wall for the City of London Cancer Research UK Race for Life. The race was organised by Rose Dawood. Basketball's Pops spoke to the crowds and started the race. Pops picture left with Cancer survivor Leanne who spoke to the crowd and after compling the course stayed at the finish to meet everyone back. 
Jennifer who came 5th at Regents Park finished first. (Above right) Three colourfull ladies and The Buckhurst Belles before the start. 
There were over 100 volunteers on the day. Left are the finish volunteers. Celebs on the day were Claire from The Apprentice, Sarah Green and Leanne. 
Leanne finished in the top 10. Below left are a group of friends at the start. Below right four ladys happy to have passed the 500m to go board.

5000 ran and walked the Regents Park Cancer Research UK Race for Life. The race was organised by Vicki Calliari. (Photo right) John Sergeant's 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner Kristina Rihanoff appeared on stage to speak to the crowd and teach them a few dance moves. Kristina also started the race and promised to return and run a London Race for Life Event in July. 
Jennifer, last years 'Supergirl' winner, changed costume to run this year as a nun. Photo of Jennifer left Right are the 118118 girls. 
There were a few Supergirls running this year. Amongst the 5000 were runners and walkers of all ages. The participants passed 4 motivation board in the last 1k. Below left the final board 'Together we will beat cancer' 400m from the finish. Below right is the Warm Up before the start.

Julia Gristwood continued her run of completing every Cancer Research UK Battersea Race for Life. This year she was given a special number marking her 15th Battersea Race for Life. This photo of Julia and Paula Radcliffe was taken before the start. 
After speaking on stage, Paula went into the crowd and signed autographs. 
The 15th Battersea Cancer Research UK Race for Life was organised by Jemma Molloy. From left to right the London Team; Becky Lomax, Jemma Molloy, Rose Dawood and Vicki Calliari. 5500 turned up to run and walk the 5k Course. 
The Nivea Boys performed on stage. This year they appeared in white. They will be appearing at many of the other London Races this year. Right a runner setting off late 12 minutes after the start.

The Cancer Research UK London Race Team for 2009 is now complete with the appointment of Vicki Calliari. Vicki takes over from Joff Charters and will be responsible for the Race for Life events at Regents Park, Hampstead, Crystal Palace and Richmond. (20Apr09) New Event Organiser for CRUKJoff Charters has now left Cancer Research UK. Interviews for his replacement will be taking place in the coming weeks.(25 Jan 09) London Cancer Research UK Events 2009Race for Life, Run for Moore and 10K events. Becky Lomax heads the London region. The race organisers are Joff Charters, Rosannah Dawood and Jemma Molloy. New for 2009 is a Race for Life event at Hyde Park.
