5000 at Hampton Court





After the mist cleared it was hot and sunny for the 5000 who ran the Hampton Court Cancer Research UK 10K.

The 10k course was multi-terrain on paths, tracks and roads in the grounds on Hampton Court Palace.




The announcers on the day were from Radio Jackie.

The race was organised by Christina Tomlinson.




Cheerleaders Pom Crazy performed for the crowds.



The race should raise over 500,000 for Cancer Research UK.




There was a large team from Lanson Running Club.



Many run with messages on their backs. Many were displayed together after the race. (Below)




There were over 100 volunteers helping on the day. Picture right are the Left Luggage team.

First Finsbury Park 10K





Entrys were closed for the first Cancer Research UK 10k at Finsbury Park three weeks before the event.

That ment 2000 turned up to run on a hot and sunny Sunday morning.

The celebrities included some from the cast of Hairspray and Holby actress Phoebe Thomas (No. 1).

Phoebe finished the race second lady.

Some had time to wave at thre cameras during the race.




The 2000 filled the event arena for the warmup.

The race should raise over 200,000 for Cancer Research UK.

First Finsbury Park 10K

The Cancer Research UK Finsbury Park 10K is on Sunday 21st Sepember. It is the first time Cancer Research UK have used this venue and with just over 2000 people taking part it is set to be a fantastic event! Event organise Rebecca Leach is looking forward to the event and wishes good luck to all those taking part.

A week later, on 28th September, Cancer Research UK are hosting their other London 10K event at Hampton Court.

www.runwalklondon.com will be at both events and photos will be posted on this website after the events.

Hot Kempton Park





It was sunny and very hot for the 2600 who ran and walked the Kempton Park Cancer Research UK Race for Life.

The event was also attended by hundreds of spectators.



The race was organised by Jemma Molloy who was assisted by a large group of volunteers.

Volunteers waited at the finish to hand out medals, goody bags and water.




Many ran in costumes.

Being mostly on flat,

tarmaced roads and paths,

the course was ideal for

those participating in wheelchairs.




These nuns skiped church to complete the course and raise money for Cancer Reseach UK.

Another 5000 at Regents Park





Another 5000 turned up at Regents Park for the Sunday Race for Life.

Conditions were good, Sunny but not quite as warm as Saturday.

There were many groups of people completing the course together and raising money for Cancer Research UK.




The Nivea Boys again performed on stage.



They also joined in with the warmup.




The announcer for the day was Sarah, picture left, with a young lady who not only raised money for Cancer Research UK at the event, but had also raised money selling cakes at school.

Race organiser Joff Charters was Sunday's lead bike, pictured right together with the course map.





Sundays Superwoman finished just inside the top 10.

5000 in Saturday Regents Park Race for Life



5000 turned up for the Saturday Regents Park Race for Life. With 5000 more on Sunday the races will raise over 1,000,000.

Celebrities running and walking the race included; Clare Nasir (Weather GMTV), Nicole Cutler (Strictly Come Dancing), Liz McClarnon (Atomic Kitten), Jaime Jay (Singer), Arabella Weir (Actress and Comedienne), Sarah Cawood (The Girlie Show), Nicola Stapleton (EastEnders and Bad Girls), Mel Cameron (EastEnders and Bad Girls) ans Rebekah Gibbs (Casualty). Rebekah spoke on stage about her experience of being diaganosed with breast cancer only 10 weeks after giving birth to her baby girl, Gigi.


After finishing fourth at Battersea and second at Hampstead, Superwoman returned to finish first in the Saturday race.




There were many costumes including this group of Cavewomen.






It was an amazing site watching the participants finishing down the Broadwalk.

The race was organised by Joff Charters, who was supported by Cancer Research Staff and a large team of volunteers.

11000 in Blackheath Race for Life



There was a record turnout for the Blackheath Race for Life. 11,000 women ran and walked the 5k course.

Right is announcer Tony Dibben on stage in front of the 11,000 womem.

As always it was Sunny for the biggest and best London Race for Life. There was also a record time of 16.10.




For most times were not important.

Most were there to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The race will raise over 1,000,000.

Left a team of Pink Ladies before the start.



It was a colourful day with many wearing costumes.



Right these two were carried around the course.




Many ran or walked with friends.


Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley
attended the events.




There were several gorillas running in the Run for Moore.

Banana Man also ran.

A record 1600 ran and walked the Run for Moore.

There was also a record time of 14.58.




A bottle completed the course.

Quite a lot of dads and sons ran together.

Another 5000 at Richmond




Both todays Richmond Cancer Research UK Race for Life Events reached capacity. 2500 ran in each Race.

There was a close finish in the morning race. From left to right is 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

A cow also finished the morning race.







Everyone was happy to finish.




As at all Race for Life Events this year, Marathon Photos were taking photos at the finish.

4500 Run and Walk at Enfield



After being cloudy while setting up, the sun came out as the participants arrived.

Pictured right is Race organiser Rosannah Dawood with Holby Actress Phoebe Thomas. Phoebe finished the race in second place.



The Enfield Cancer Research UK Race for Life was held at Trent Park.

Most of the race was under the shade of the trees.

These ladys completed the course together.

Hot Hampstead





Over 3000 ran and walked the Hampstead Race for Life.

The sun came out and it was very Warm.

The 5k course was on paths and tracks of Hampstead Heath.



The race was organised by Rosannah Dawood (Pictured Left).


Even with a broken Arm this lady managed to complete the course.



After running Battersea, Superwoman returned to run Hampstead. This time finishing second.

This lady multitasked and walked the dog aswell.



There were many volunteers at Hampstead, including Highgate Harriers and Mornington Chasers who marshaled the course.

7800 in City of London Race for Life




7800 turned out for the City of London Race for Life.

The Race was organised by Joff Charters, assisted by Cancer Research UK Staff and over 100 volunteers.

Capitol Radio were there to cheer on the runners and walkers.

Tony Dibben of Capitol Radio was the anouncer for the Day.



There were a few celebraties running and walking the course.

Diana Moran, the Green Goddess was on stage.

Gloria Hunniford spoke to the participants before the event.





Just after the 1K mark there was a Drum Band to help everyone on their way.

Many had messages on their backs.

The four (below right) were on their way to the start.

Sunny Richmond




After raining all day Saturday, the sun came out for the Richmond Cancer Research UK Race for Life.

Race organiser was Joff Charters.




There were 2 races. The fastest time of the day was by 5829 pictured above right. She finished in about 19 minutes, over three minutes in front of second.


The Nivea Cheer Leaders were there to perform on stage before the start.






Times were not important for most. The Richmond races should raise more than last years figure of 700,000 for Cancer Research UK.


These three enjoyed finishing together.




These angels flew round the course.

Over 2000 at Crystal Palace




Over 2000 ran and walked in the Crystal Palace Cancer Research UK Race for Life. Left is Sarah, the anouncer for the day, joining in the warm up. Race Organiser was Natasha Etienne (pictured right) on stage.

The main race was over 5k, but this year there was an option to run or walk 10k by doing 2 laps. Below right are volunteers at half way drinks station.







All ages ran and walk. Above left are two of the younger runners.

The leader completed the race in about 23 minutes.

These participants started late but still had time to pose for a photo.


Some finished the race hand in hand (Below).




This young lady completed the 5k course in her wheelchair.

2008 London Race for Life starts at Battersea




Battersea kicked off the London Cancer Research UK Race for Life series. Leader of the Consevative Party David Cameron was at the start.


Julia Gristwood continued her record of running all the Battersea events making this her fifteenth.



The weather was warm and sunny.


The celebrities were interviewed at the start by ITV.


Actress Phoebe Thomas finished the race in fourth place.




Paula Radcliffe and Gloria Hunniford

spoke to the runners and walkers

before the start.

The race was organised by Becky Lomax
assisted by volunteers
and other Cancer Research UK staff.




There were many groups running and walking together.


The Welsh Guard were one of them.


The Cancer Research UK Scientist assisted in the finish funnels.

London Race for Life Events 2008

Dates for this years Cancer Research UK Race for Life will be anounced 21 January 2008.

This year Becky Lomax is Senior Race Organiser, taking over From Lizzie Cummings who is taking a year off to travel the world. Becky will organise the Battersea Race. Joff Charters takes over most of Beckys 2007 races. His races are Richmond, City of London, Blackheath and Regents Park. Natasha Etienne again will be at Crystal Palace. This year at Crystal Palace there will be an option to run 10k. Two new Race Organisers join the London Team. Rosannah Dawood takes on; Hampstead and Enfield. And Jemma Molloy; Croydon, Epsom and Kempton.
